W Physics and Testing the Standard Model at LEP

Measurements of the resonance parameters at LEP have established the validity of the Standard Model to high precision. The high energy operation of LEP2 in 1996 allowed W pair production in collisions for the first time providing a unique opportunity for detailed studies of W physics and stringent tests of the Standard Model.
